Homework task - Timothy Martini

Spider-man 2 storyboard

Production: When film makers start to make a movie they first need to write a screenplay, which is the script and story for the movie, then afterwards the film makers storyboard the film planning out each shot in order to have a plan for when they go out to film each scene. Then after they film each scene, the clips are sent to the editors who then have to edit the clips together and add the special effects to the scenes if necessary, they also add the music to the scenes if that is what the director wanted. Afterwards the director views the final edit and the marketing team starts to advertise the movie until it comes out.

Movie hard drive
Distribution: Distribution is when the film is sent to cinemas to show the film, they now use hard drives (which are sent from the film company) to do this as films are filmed digitally which makes it easier to for the film projectionist to place and remove the film from the projector. Some distributors decide to change a release date for their film, one of the reasons for this is because there may be other movies coming out on the same weekend and it may hurt their chances of gaining more money in the box office.

Guardians of the Galaxy poster

Marketing: Marketing is when the film is advertised to the general public, this can be done with either posters or trailers. Movies like Guardians of the Galaxy was marketed with both posters and trailers (which were shown on TV and in cinema).

Interior of a cinema
Exhibition: Most movie goers normally watch movies in cinema, but if they are unable to their either wait until the movie comes out on DVD or Netflix and watch it on those platforms, or they illegally stream the movie online. The movie's success either depends on reviews from critics or how well it did in the box office. The box office is how much the movie made in time that it was out in cinema.

BFI logo
BFI: The BFI is there to help movies and other forms of media be created in the UK and to help promote education about different forms of media. This helps the British film industry grow as there is a charity group that is there to solely help British film makers succeed.
